Privacy policy

HailDC is an independent, fan-run Washington football website owned and operated by Keala WaiWai Partners, PO Box 2473, Virginia Beach, VA 23450 ("we", "us", "our"). This policy covers haildc.com and its pages, emails and phone alerts. It does not cover other websites we link to.

You can read HailDC without an account and without telling us who you are. We collect only the following:

• Newsletter. If you sign up for the daily email, we store your email address, the date you signed up and the page you signed up from.
• Phone alerts. If you turn on alerts, your browser gives us a push subscription: a web address and keys from your browser's push service. It does not include your name, email or phone number.
• Polls. When you vote in a poll, we store your vote with a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and browser details, so each person votes once. We do not store the IP address with the vote.
• Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
• Server and security logs. Like most websites, our servers record basic request details (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to keep the site running, stop abuse and limit repeated requests.
• Analytics. We measure visits with Rybbit, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies, and with Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies. Both tell us things like which pages are read, the type of device, the referring site and the approximate region. We use this to improve the site.
• Affiliate and partner links. When you click a link to a sportsbook, prediction market, ticket seller or other partner, the partner or its affiliate network may use cookies or tracking codes to record that you came from HailDC, so we can be paid a commission. See the affiliate disclosure.

Some settings are saved only in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us: your light or dark theme choice and the items you mark as favorites. Clearing your browser data removes them.

HailDC itself does not need cookies to work. Cookies may be set by:

• Google Analytics 4, to count visits and sessions.
• Affiliate partners and networks, after you click a partner link, to credit the referral.
• Embedded content such as YouTube videos, which load in privacy-enhanced mode until you press play.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on. The site keeps working if you do.

To show live scores, video, podcasts and images, your browser loads some content directly from other companies, including ESPN, YouTube, podcast hosts and team logo and headshot servers. Those companies receive your IP address and browser details when that happens, under their own privacy policies. Links to news stories, X (Twitter), sportsbooks and other sites take you to sites we do not control.

• To send the newsletter and the phone alerts you asked for.
• To count poll votes fairly.
• To answer your messages.
• To run, secure and improve the site, and to understand which pages are useful.
• To earn and track affiliate commissions.
• To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. We share information only:

• With service providers that host the site, send email, deliver push alerts and provide analytics, who may use it only to provide those services to us.
• With affiliate partners and networks, limited to the referral information created when you click a partner link.
• When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of HailDC, our users or others.
• As part of a sale, merger or transfer of the site, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

• Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe.
• Push subscriptions: until you turn alerts off, or your browser's push service reports the subscription is no longer valid.
• Poll votes: for as long as the poll results are shown.
• Emails: as long as needed to handle your message.
• Server logs: a short period, usually no more than 90 days, unless needed to investigate abuse.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any email, and turn off phone alerts in your browser or device settings at any time.

Depending on where you live, including Virginia, California and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, targeted advertising or profiling. To make a request, email info@kealawaiwai.com. We will verify the request using the email address involved and respond within the time the law requires, usually 45 days. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we will answer the appeal within 60 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

HailDC is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Betting and odds content is meant only for adults 21 and older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email info@kealawaiwai.com and we will delete it.

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to stored data. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

HailDC is run from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, you understand your information will be handled under U.S. law.

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Big changes will be noted on this page.
